Mitchell Performing Arts Center receives national recognition.

MSH Architects announces that Mitchell High School, Performing Arts Center, Mitchell, South Dakota has been selected for publication in Penton’s American School & University® 2017 Educational Interiors Showcase. The project is featured in the August 2017 edition of the magazine and online at SchoolDesigns.com. An annual competition honoring excellence in educational interiors and facility planning, the Educational Interiors Showcase spotlights today’s most effective learning environments.

The Mitchell Performing Arts Center is located at 821 N Capital Rd in Mitchell, SD. It houses a 65,000-square foot performance venue.  Building features include a 1,200 seat, 3-tier auditorium, rooms for choral, instrument and performing arts, and a black box theater. 

A jury of American Institute of Architects (AIA) members and education administrators evaluated submissions from architectural firms, schools and universities across the country and outside the United States. Seventy projects in eighteen categories were chosen for publication in AS&U, an educational facility, purchasing, and business administration magazine reaching 57,000 facility planners, school and university administrators, and architects with this issue. This is the 27th year the competition has been held and MSH Architects is the first South Dakota based firm to win this award.
